Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what data leterme processes, why it is processed, and how it is handled when you use the service.

1. Data we process

We process the minimum data needed to provide leterme, including account information such as name, email address, language preference, plan status, and technical or operational metadata related to your use of the service.

We also process the content you choose to create or upload, including capsule text, audio, video, emotional context, opening date, and related storage metadata.

2. Why we process your data

We process your data to create and maintain your account, store and display your capsules, send essential service emails such as verification or opening reminders, process payments, protect the service, and operate the product features you choose to use.

3. Private access to your capsules

Your capsules are intended to be private. Access to capsule content is restricted to the account that owns it inside the authenticated product experience.

leterme does not turn your capsules into public posts or social content.

4. Audio, video, and service providers

For leterme to work, we rely on specialized providers that handle specific technical services. Depending on the features you use, some of your data is processed through them:

  • Stripe processes payments when you buy Pro or additional storage.
  • Cloudflare R2 stores the audio files you upload.
  • Cloudinary stores and processes the video files you upload.
  • OpenAI processes the audio you submit when you use the dictation or transcription feature.

5. Cookies and local storage

The leterme web client does not rely on its own session cookies to keep you signed in.

Authentication state on the web client may be stored in your browser local storage so you can continue using the product after signing in.

6. Account deletion and data removal

If you delete your account, leterme permanently deletes your account data, capsules, and associated media files from its database and related media storage used by the service.

Once deletion is completed, that content is not recoverable through leterme.

7. Security

We apply technical and organizational measures designed to protect account data and private capsule content against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No system can guarantee absolute security, so you should also protect your password, email account, and access to your devices.

Concretely, these are some of the measures we apply:

  • Encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS) between your browser and leterme.
  • Passwords stored using hashing, never in plain text.
  • Access to your capsules restricted to your account, with email verification when you sign up and when opening capsules shared with you.
  • Storage on established provider infrastructure with industry-standard security practices.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the service or legal requirements. Continued use of leterme after the updated policy is published means you accept the revised version.
